AMFS Presents a film on the life of former NY Dolls guitarist Johnny Thunders

On Thursday, November 20th, Lakeshore Record Exchange in conjunction with The Memorial Art Gallery, debut the next film in the Alternative Music Film Series:

Looking For Johnny: The Legend of Johnny Thunders

This film, created by Danny Garcia ("The Rise and Fall of the Clash"), tells the story of legendary, hard living, glam/metal/punk/rock and roll guitarist.  Garcia spent 18 months doing 50 interviews with those closest to Thunders: founding member of the influential New York Dolls in the 70s and punk inspiration in the 80s with The Heartbreakers. Thunder died at only 38 under mysterious circumstances in a New Orleans hotel in 1991. Along with the interviews, see previously unseen photos and historic footage of his unique musical style performing with the New York Dolls and The Heartbreakers. With Malcom McLaren, Leee Black Childers, Sylvain Sylvain and many others. (90 minutes)

Film at 7 PM in the Auditorium.

This event is only $10 cash at the door and includes Gallery Admission. Gallery Third Thursday events will also be happening. Seating is limited to 290, so get there early!
