History Of AlternativeMusic.com / Lakeshore Record Exchange

Lakeshore Record Exchange has been a mainstay in the Rochester, NY area since October, 1980. Founded by Ron and Jackie Stein, the original store was located in Charlotte, NY on the shore of Lake Ontario. In 1988, the Steins decided to leave the area and the business was purchased by local broadcaster Andrew Chinnici. Shortly there after it was relocated to the Monroe/Park avenue area of Rochester.

Lakeshore Record Exchange has been at its current location at 370 Park Avenue since 2000. The store has been dedicated to Alternative Music from the beginning. LRE carries a finely curated, continuously evolving, selection of new and used Records, CDs, Videos and Books. There is also an excellent selection of Cult movies dedicated to Horror, ’70s exploitation and independent films from all over the world.
